Tyler MACKAY Obituary

On April 13th, Tyler Matthew MacKay left this world after 39 wonderful years. He went in peace with his family by his side after a brave battle with cancer.  He is survived by his wife Lindsay and their dog, Bruce, parents Pat and Gerry and brother Ryan and the ”Mackenshires”, Jane, Gwendolyn and Cale.

Tyler was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario where his love of the outdoors began. He was an incredible athlete.  Excelling at whatever he pursued like baseball, rock climbing and skiing. This is where his passion for biking and bike mechanics sparked. At age 15 he eased into mountain living as Fernie became his home.

He had a knack for unassumingly helping others and enjoyed solving problems.  This was the most prevalent in his dedication to Straightline and felt privileged to be part of such an amazing crew. (423-REPRESENT)

Always researching and learning about anything and everything, Tyler had many loves and interests. He spent his days biking, skiing, fishing, walking in the woods, going for backcountry drives in the truck with his “team”, watching war movies, flying around in helicopters, watching the Red Sox, hanging out at the shop and drinking beer with his buddies and puttering around his workshop with his many projects. Above all else he loved listening to and playing music. Especially Punk and Metal.

He was "The Best of the Best" and the world will feel less bright without him. He will be dearly missed by all of his friends and family.

We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Fernie, Cranbrook and Calgary Foothills hospitals for their help through his journey. He had such great admiration and respect for all of you.

Instead of flowers, please give to Fernie Friends for Friends, go explore somewhere new or listen to some punk rock music.
