Peter DORATTY Obituary

Brian passed away peacefully on September 13, 2022 in Fernie, BC at the age of ninety-two years. A lifetime resident of the Elk Valley, Brian was born in Natal on May 22, 1930 to parents Benjamin and Teresa (nee Corrigan) Doratty.

Brian was predeceased by his wife of 40 yrs., Loretta Doratty, in 1999, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack (Connie) and Robert (Molly). He is survived by sons Chris and David (Cathy), his granddaughter Sarah, grandsons Benjamin and William (Annie), and great grandchildren Jackson, Kacey, and Bailey.

Brian graduated from Natal-Michel Secondary in 1948. After working in the mines for 2 yrs. he joined the R.C.A.F. His time serving with the 439 Squadron in England was the source of many great stories. Following his military career, Brian returned to the coal mines where he retired as a Millwright at Elkview in 1995.

Brian was introduced to Loretta Baggio in 1948 and they were married in St. Michael’s Parish on July 4, 1959. An avid outdoorsman, his lifelong passion for fly fishing was enjoyed into his 90th year! He also appreciated the challenges of hunting and often shared his adventures with family and friends. In his retirement he also found pleasure in wood carving, creating some beautiful pieces.

As per Brian's wishes, no services will be held.
