Olga KUNKAT

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Olga Kunkat, passed away at the Elk Valley Hospital on August 1, 2019, days before her 94th birthday.

Olga was born in Bukowa Poland on August 13, 1925. In April of 1954, Olga immigrated to Canada with her husband Bruno where they had two children; a son Wolfgang and their daughter Karen. The Kunkat’s moved from Fernie to Edmonton and Calgary before deciding to make Fernie their permanent home.

A hardworking woman, Olga held various jobs including waitressing, where she learned to speak English, and janitorial work. She was a devoted Christian, making many lifelong friends through church and fellowship. She had a real green thumb and loved tending to her beautiful gardens, especially her flowers. Olga doted on her family, always preparing their favorites; her fabulous spaghetti and ribs, roasts, and chocolate cake and berry cake. She also baked her own special sour dough rye bread; a recipe that will never be duplicated! Olga very much enjoyed riding her bike, which she did well into her eighties.

Olga is survived by her children Wolfgang Kunkat, and Karen Mosley; five grandchildren:,Holly (Claire) McMaster, Tanya (Andy) Feller, Cara Piotrowski (Shawn Nelson). Breanna Simoneau (Chad), and Nadine Mosley, and ten great grandchildren: Conner, Kylie, Dylan, Bradi-Anne, Jordan, Noah, Taya, Owen, Haden and Tristan. She is predeceased by her husband Bruno and bother Reinhold.
