David Edward Caufield passed away surrounded by family, June 29, 2022.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Rose, and his brother Joseph. David is survived by his sisters Grace (Thomas), Adelaine (John), and Teresa (Patty); step mother Jann; nephews and nieces Nick, Connor, Luke (Carley), Leah-Rose, Jocelyn (Ken), and Brenna (Phillip); and great nieces and nephews Jonni, Jude, Owen, Meera, and Walker-Rose. He will be missed by many more family and friends, including those at the Pub, Fernie, and Northern.
Dave was born in Fernie, BC on April 28, 1961 and spent his life in his home town. He was an active young man, winning the BC Highschool Provincial Curling Championships in 1979. He played hockey and loved golfing and playing ball with his buddies. When you didn’t see him driving the bus to the mine, he could be found at one of his usual stops talking sports or spending time with his family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Soetaert, Dr. Rodrigue, Sarann Press, Jordan Lewis, Alanna Corrigan, the Home Care Aides, Palliative Care team, and all the staff and nurses at the Elk Valley Hospital for the wonderful care given to David and support given to his caregivers. The family would also like to thank all of Dave’s extended family and friends who visited and supported him and the family throughout this journey.
