Edmund Vincent “Vinny,” “Copa” Robinson

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved dad and grandpa on March 19, 2020. Vinny is survived by his four children, Cleo, Rob (Kathryn), Joy (Dennis) and Jay (Kerry) and his eleven cherished grandchildren, Brandy, Jesse, Chance, Sam, Rita, Hanna, Emma, Dalton, Danielle, Kelton and Cameron.

Born in High River, AB and raised on a farm south of Cayley, AB, Vinny worked on the farm and drove truck to support his family. It was from here that Vinny developed his love of engines and later attended SAIT to become a mechanic. In 1962, Vinny moved to Longview, AB where he started a family and worked as a mechanic at the Husky gas station. In 1975, he moved to Elko, BC, where he worked at Crowsnest Industries (Elko sawmill) until he retired. Vinny’s passions included caring for his family, anything with an engine, motorcycles, fishing, baseball and helping his neighbours.

Our hearts are saddened by his passing. We are forever grateful for his many gifts to us, including his immense love for both his children and grandchildren and for rightly or wrongly always being in their corner, his excellent patience as he taught many generations how to drive, his generosity in always being the first to lend a hand to whoever needed it, his quickness to laugh and share stories, his belief in fairness and fair play, and his unwavering kindness, compassion, and integrity. How lucky we all are to be blessed by a man with an ever-lasting commitment to his family. He will forever live on in both our hearts and our minds.

As Vinny lived his life with gratitude, we would like to follow his example and thank Mike Sevinski for his daily coffee visits and mealtime assistance, Guff and Phillis Johnson for their friendship with visits and going out for Chinese food, The Ya Yas for always being there with support, supplies, and food and to Dr. Gadsden, the nurses, care aides and home support for your compassion and care to our beloved Vinny.

Due to current world events and restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fernie Salvation Army in honour of Vinny’s memory.
