Veronica was born on May 18, 1941, to Jose and Trinidad Saulo in Santo Tomas, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She was the sixth of eleven children.
She attended National Teacher’s College and worked at a textile mill at night, where she met Silverio. They later married and moved to live with his family in Binangonan, Rizal.
They had four children: Ruth (Rene), Samson (Colette), Solomon (Wendy), and Noel (Sara). She had seven grandchildren: Elizabeth, Eleesha (Jared), Samuel (Becca), Gabrielle, Simon, Enzo and Mateo. Silverio went home to be with the Lord in 2007 after suffering an aneurysm.
Veronica enjoyed swimming, canning, gardening, cooking, time with family and friends, church work and visiting the Philippines. She was passionate about helping the poor. She and Silver began a mission work called KWOS--Kooteney World Outreach Society. In 2012, Veronica received the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee award for her work with the poor.
In the last year, Veronica bravely battled cancer and on June 17th, she left this earthly home to be with her Heavenly Father with a final smile.
We are thankful for Veronica's example of faith. Her trust was in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for the forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Truly, Nanay/Lola/Veronica/Vennie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Sisters of the Poor (a charity in the Philippines that Veronica supported). Donations may be e-transferred to saragones23@gmail.com
