Scott BANNINK Obituary

It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Scott Arthur Bannink on April 14, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1967 to Marilyn and Donald Bannink in Lethbridge Alberta.

Scott and his family moved to Sparwood in 1972 where Scott spent most of his childhood either outdoors or inside a boxing ring. He had deep love for camping, fishing, hunting, and boxing. Scott was well known in the Elk Valley for his achievements in amateur boxing. He won two gold medals at the Canadian National Level and several Golden Glove championships and later he was inducted into the BC Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame.

In 1985 he met the love of his life Yvette, in high school and they married in June of 1993. Scott became a proud father of his daughter Kayla in 1993 and shortly after came his son Sheldon in 1995. Scott began his mining career at Greenhills in 1993 and was a member of the Mine Rescue Team. In 2007 Scott went to work up at the oil sands for the next 18 years, where he formed strong bonds with his co-workers.

Scott was known for his love of hockey where he coached his son’s hockey teams and was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan. You could always find him out at the Koocanusa with the Bannink and Plessis families either boating, fishing, or hanging out with his labs. We will miss his great sense of humour and practical jokes.

Scott was predeceased by his parents Marilyn and Donald. He is survived by his spouse, Yvette; children, Kayla (Darrell) and Sheldon and his four siblings, Dale, Tammy (Kevin), Shelly (Bettina) and Troy (Jessica). He is also leaving behind his beloved black lab Sally and many nieces, nephews, brother-in laws, and sisters-in-law.

Rest in peace Scott, we all love you so much.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, in Scott's name, in memory of Maurice Plessis.
