Ryan GASKIN

It is with great sadness, we announce that Ryan Gaskin has left us, aged 22 on the 18th of June 2025.

Ryan was such a light to be around and lit up every room he walked into, with his witty humour and sense of fun.

He would always be the person to ensure that everyone was ok and put people at ease, he was kind, sensitive to others, with great compassion and empathy and a great sense of fun.

He always had a great love for animals, in particular dogs, which always seem to follow him around, he will be missed greatly by so many.

Ryan was brought up in Woodford Halse, Daventry, UK and attended Boddington School in his early years and then High School at Southam College and finally for further education Warwickshire College in Leamington Spa.  Life was full of the many activities for him, enjoying Football (joined the local Football Team), Go- Karting, Skiing (which he started age 4), Cricket (joined the Northamptonshire Kids Team), F1 Sport (was a fan of Lewis Hamilton) and teaching himself to play the guitar.

In December 2022 Ryan departed the UK for Canada to become a Ski-Instructor in the small town of Fernie, British Columbia, his ultimate aim was to become a Ski Patroller dog handler in Fernie, which he strived to achieve in the two & half years he was there, which sadly now will never be realized. 

Ryan’s passing will be mourned by his parents, Michele & Steve; sister, Jade; grandfather, Phil; aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

There will be a viewing from 4:15pm on Friday 18th of July for those who wish to attend.

The funeral will be held on Saturday 19th July at 12 noon at The Chapel, Cherished Memories Funeral Services, 891 – 4th Ave, Fernie, which will be followed by a Celebration of Ryan’s Life at the Annex Park, 1092 12th Ave, Fernie BC V0B 1M5. 

The family would like to extend their thanks to the various people that have assisted in helping with the arrangements, as it was difficult handling the situation from overseas.

The name Ryan, derived from Ireland and translates to mean ‘Little King’, which he always will be in our hearts now and forever.
