Rudolph DEPAOLI Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rudolph “Rudy” Mario DePaoli on September 19, 2020 following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifetime resident of the Elk Valley, Rudy was born in Michel, BC on March 13, 1941.

Rudy was a loving family man, always with Dena, his beautiful wife of 58 years, by his side. Together they raised their 3 children, Kelly, Trent, and Kory and were the proud grandparents to grandsons Dante, Kody and Kayden and granddaughters Melissa and Amanda.

Rudy was predeceased by his parents Norino and Ada, and his sister Sheila.

Rudy spent many years and countless hours as a Paramedic, Fireman, Fire Captain and finally as Fire Chief with the Sparwood Fire Department. An avid hockey fan, he was an accomplished player with the high-level Sr. men’s hockey team, and then with the Rusty Blades. Rudy was actively involved with minor hockey as a coach and served on the Executive and later as President.

The mountains were Rudy’s playground; he enjoyed time fishing and quadding in the valley he loved. Family and friends meant everything to him and there was nothing he would not do for them.

Rudy spent his final years with his beloved Dena at his side, enjoying their daily walks, taking care of their beautiful yard, and visiting friends and family. Theirs was a true love story.

The DePaoli family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Sparwood Health Care Center, and especially Dr Higgins for the wonderful, compassionate care Rudy received. We also want to acknowledge the staff and doctors at the Elk Valley Hospital for their palliative care and treatment of Rudy in his final days.

Rudy will be forever missed and never forgotten.
