Rosella "Rose" MORGAN Obituary

Rosella (Rose) Morgan was reunited with the love of her life, Bud, peacefully in her home in Sparwood, BC on October 29th, 2025 at the age of ninety-one.

Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Spencer (Bud) Morgan. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Sharon Brown and Shirley Clouston; daughters, Darlene (Denis) Horgan, and Cheryl Morgan; grandchildren: Darren (Chelsy) Flegel, Daniel (Erin) Flegel, Marie Horgan, and the little ones who brought her the greatest joy in her life, her great-grandchildren: Kadance, Falon, Madelyn, Wyatt, Finley, and Rhys. She will be missed by numerous friends and community members.

Rose was born in Forward, Saskatchewan on October 29th, 1934 to Herman and Geanette Schmidt. After spending some time in Kelowna, she finally settled in the Michel/Natal area where she met Bud. Soon after they were married and as their love grew, so did their family. Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Darlene and Cheryl, while they both worked at the mines. Later on they built a small family-owned business, The Sausage Shop, in the Greenwood Mall in Sparwood. This little shop was their pride and joy, selling the best jerky in the Elk Valley. Rose and Bud became famous to the locals for their homemade sausage rolls, and macaroni salad (to whom of which Grandma Rose would never share her secret recipes).

Their daughters then started their own families and Rose and Bud were delighted to become grandparents to grandchildren Darren, Danny, and Marie. Rose and Bud welcomed their grandsons into their home with open arms. Raising the boys, their days were spent behind the wheel, driving the boys to freezing cold hockey arenas all over the countryside, volunteering for their teams, cheering the loudest in the crowd, keeping track of all the goals, assists, and most importantly penalty minutes, and shots on goal. Rosie was always the loudest in the car on the way home questioning the boys bad plays, wondering if it was all worth it.

Together as a family, they spent many days in the motorhome exploring the wilderness in the mountains, spending sunny summer days at Loon Lake. They loved to travel with the boys, some their best memories are from their trips to Vegas, Florida, England, and Puerto Rico.

In her later years, after Bud was laid to rest. Darren and Danny started their own families welcoming six beautiful great-grand children who were grandma’s greatest joy in life. Holidays were spent around the table playing Rummoli, hearts happy and bellies always full.

A private grave side service will be held with her family by her side to lay her to rest beside her husband Bud.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Cherished Memories in Fernie, BC in the Spring. Details to follow.

The family would like to personally thank Wendy Rybachuk for helping take great care of our beloved grandma over the past several months.

Rose spent her evenings cuddling her kitty, Dusty. She loved her pets over the years very dearly, so we ask that in Lieu of flowers, for donations to be made to Twin Meadows Animal Rescue Society.
