Richard Larry MacDonald passed away peacefully after a noble and gracious bout with cancer on July 1, 2024, in Fernie, BC. He was born on January 27, 1943, in Prince Rupert, BC.
Larry is survived by his children, Rick, Kristy, and Terry; grandchildren, Chris, Lacey, Joshua, Max, and Dom; great grandchild Lochlan; siblings, Janet, Gail, and Hilda; friends, Mike, Bob, and Abel.
Larry was a hard worker all his life and cared for his extended family and friends dispersed around western Canada and beyond. He was a truck driver, auto mechanic, and heavy-duty mechanic for the majority of his working career. After tending to family and work Larry enjoyed reading mainly westerns and sci-fi. He also liked golfing, snowmobiling, and a bit of traveling to see out-of-town friends and family. Larry had an adventurous and somewhat mischievous spirit, he was charming, funny, and will be missed.
Gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 7075 Stubbs Road, Hosmer, BC. For more information contact Rick at 250-421-7200
The MacDonald family would like to thank the medical staff, social work staff, and the transitional residence staff at the Elk Valley Hospital for the exceptional care given to Larry. The family would also like to thank the several other friends that came to visit him in his final days.
