Raynald Joseph Fernand Labonte passed away on September 13, 2024, in Fernie, BC. He was predeceased by his mother Marie Marthe Baker and father Julien Labonte, his sisters Marjolaine Labonte and Marie-France Labonte, his eldest son Denis Labonte and his daughter Sylvie Labonte.
Born in Lyster, Quebec to parents Julien and Marie on October 4, 1935, Raynald Labonte, better known by his nicknames "Ray" and "Frenchie", lived a long and adventurous life as a loving husband and father, as well as an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and talented welder and fabricator.
Raynald spent a long part of his life in the Elk Valley, residing both in Hosmer and Elkford, and hunting and fishing in the valley's beautiful rivers and majestic mountains. Raynald had a great love for all animals, and even tended his own rabbit farm down in the hills of Tennessee.
Raynald is survived by his wife Kolita Labonte, his brothers Marc-Andre and Jean-Claude, his sons Raynald Labonte Jr., Bobby Labonte and Damien Labonte, his daughters Louise Labonte, Melinda Jones and Melisa Pointer, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Raynald will be missed dearly by his family and friends alike and will remain in our hearts with loving memories. There will be no services planned at this time aside from a private family gathering.
