Paul Joseph WALSH

Paul Joseph Walsh passed away peacefully in Fernie, BC on May 3, 2022 at the age of 79. He was born on March 8, 1943 in Saltney Wales, UK.

Paul was a schoolteacher in his native country before emigrating to Canada in 1967 for a new adventure. He continued his teaching career until 1976 when he decided on a change and began working in the mining industry as a blaster and truck driver, which he did until 1992. A semi-retirement followed where he resumed teaching part time for a few years before retiring full-time in 1998.

Paul enjoyed the simple things in life; family, an afternoon beer with friends, reading and doing the daily crossword puzzle. He especially loved gardening, and was renowned for organizing the annual “Leek Contest” at the Fernie Hotel. He and his wife Elaine also enjoyed travelling the world for many years. Paul loved his adopted country and his many friends, and enjoyed a lengthy retirement.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Tom and Mary, and his brother Chris. He leaves behind his beloved wife Elaine, his sister Anne, son Michael (Jennifer) Walsh, daughter Janice Walsh, stepsons Michael (Shelley) Nohels, and Fred Nohels, and grandchildren Morgan, Andrew, Dayle, Kes and Janai.

Paul wanted no fuss on his passing, so by request there will be no service.
