Michael TOURNEMILLE Obituary

Michael (Mike) Tournemille, 75, of Sparwood, British Columbia, passed away on June 27, 2026, at his home.

He was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed, by his loving wife, Rose.  He celebrated his 75th birthday, on May 13, with family and friends, and enjoyed every minute of it!

As a couple, they shared many good times, living in many places, working together; from Cranbrook, Creston, Yahk, Kimberley, Saskatchewan, and finally making their home in Sparwood, where they have resided since 2008.  They worked, painting and renovating homes throughout the Elk Valley for 18 years, which facilitated them getting to know many people.  Over the years, they weathered many storms together, and supported each other; the loss of one of their daughters, Pam, and the devastating loss of their home in a house fire in 2021, in which they lost everything, including Spike and Minou, and Valentine, their beloved pets.

Mike was born on May 13, 1951, to Maurice and Jacqueline Tournemille, at Surrey, BC, where he lived until the age of 14, when he set out to make his own way.  He married the love of his life, Rose, on August 5, 2000, at Engelfeld, Saskatchewan.  Mike remained a committed, loving partner to Rose for 34 years.

Mike was the kind of fellow who was always ready to help anyone in need.  He was very resourceful, and could fix anything, and willingly did so.  He had a great appreciation for nature, especially his experiences around camping and fishing.  There was no task that was unattainable for Mike; if it needed doing, he would figure out a way to get it done.  He was an amazing cook, and took great pride and pleasure in sharing his delectable creations with family and friends.

Mike is survived by his wife, Rose, his daughters, Michelle (Trevor) Johnson, Tina (Jared) Strokon, and Kelly Tournemille, as well as his siblings, Jean, Michele, Brian.

He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Jacqueline Tournemille, his sister, Gail, and his stepdaughter, Pamela.

A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, friends and family may choose to donate to Hope Air, who were instrumental in providing financial support throughout his illness.
