It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Joyce Dunn (Nee Gillies) formally of Atikokan, Ontario on the morning of April 6, 2021, in Sparwood, British Columbia. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur William Dunn (Lucky), who passed away in 1977, and her parents Louise Locking and Gordon Gillies. She is survived by her daughter, Melody Ann Bruce (Keith), her grandchildren, Christopher, Christina Caron (Alain) and April Holcek (Brad), and her great grandchildren, Emma, Dominic, Cage, Arya, and Edward.
Joyce was born on July 11, 1927 in Fort Frances, Ontario. She worked at a drug store during her teenage years and then made the move to Atikokan and became a telephone operator and worked there until Bell Canada closed its doors. She worked at Napper Store and SAAN store until she retired. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting slippers for everyone. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed going for drives, as a passenger. She loved music and dancing and as a child danced on stage.
She was a kind and gentle soul who welcomed everyone she met. She attended her church in Atikokan where she met and made lifelong friends. She loved life and made the move to Sparwood 7 years ago to be closer to her family.
Joyce will be greatly missed and cherished always.
