Marie Therese HUMPHREY

Marie Therese Humphrey was born to Delima and Aldege Danis on April 18, 1947 in Sudbury Ontario. She passed away on June 7, 2024 with her daughter, Farrah, honorary daughter, Stacey, son in law, Wes, and 2 grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael at her side. She took her last breath as family held her hand and her daughter and granddaughter sang to her.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Dave of 33 years in 2015, Her brother Moe Danis in May 2016, her father Aldege Danis in May 1987 and her mother Delima Danis in January of 1996. She is survived by her children Farrah (Wes), Brett (Nicole) and grandchildren; James, Michael, Rebecca, Jack, Kaylee and Elizabeth. She is also survived by siblings, Sue Oak, Eva Danis and Paul Danis. She will be remembered and missed by many other family members and friends. 

Marie married David Humphrey on January 22, 1982 in Fernie BC. She worked a couple of odd jobs such as working in a restaurant kitchen, babysitting, dog sitting and a brief stint of housekeeping. But she was happy to mainly be a stay at home mom raising her two children. Marie liked to volunteer for various events and was a member of the Fernie Legion for many years. One such volunteering experience was helping to make lunches for a group who were in town for a winter activity of some sort. After she gave her heart to the Lord, she loved to cook for potluck dinners or help her husband with bbqs at the Pentecostal church.

Marie and Dave both gave their hearts to the Lord in 2004 on the same Sunday that their grandson Michael was dedicated. She was baptized some time after that. Marie loved playing darts in the Legion dart league and she even played horseshoes from time to time. She also loved having card nights with friends and playing games during family holiday get-togethers. She also enjoyed crocheting, keeping sharp doing word search puzzles and reading Louis L'Amour books. 

I would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Elk Valley Hospital who have graciously cared for my mom over the many years of her illness. I would especially like to thank the team of Home Health Nurses and Homecare Workers who so lovingly and diligently cared for my mom and supported our family over the last several years and especially into the last year, months and days of her life.

These two organizations really helped and continue to help support our family as we walk through this time, so any donations made to these two organizations would be greatly appreciated.
