Maria TOCKO

On September 4th, 2023, the loving wife, mother, and sister, Maria Tocko, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Jan Vojticek and Maria Vojtickova.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Peter SR., dedicated mother of Peter JR., doting grandmother, her dear sister, Jana Vojtickova and younger brother, Dustan Vojticek as well as many much-loved nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends.

For the past 23 years she has worked as a health care aide at St. Amant Centre.  Maria also worked as a laboratory technician at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg.  She was a very hard-working individual.  Maria was especially passionate about her work at St. Amant, where her caring nature provided exceptional care to adults and children with physical and mental disabilities.

Maria was known for her generous, light-hearted, and compassionate soul.  A simple person who loved the simple things in life and spending time with her precious family.  She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those she interacted with and those she reached, but never met.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to have Fernie EMT, Fernie firefighters, and Fernie Elk Valley Hospital. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the Cranbrook ICU General Hospital for doing everything they could.

To all our family members and friends, thank you for all your kind words and prayers during this difficult time. We greatly appreciate your sympathy and kindness.

The Funeral service will be held at Holy Family Parish Church on

September 13th, 2023, at 1:00pm (521-4 Ave, Fernie, BC V0B 1M0)

Fr. Thomas Kakkaniyil will be officiating this lovely service.
