Kenneth John Caldwell, or “Coddy,” as his friends liked to call him, 61, passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Ken was born on November 22, 1964 in Fernie, B.C., and spent his youth hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. While in high school, Ken met the love of his life, Carol, whom he was with for 46 years. He was a loving and devoted father to his son, Kurtis (Emily), and proud Papa to his beloved granddaughter, Cleo, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry (Albert) and was predeceased by his parents, Andrea and Fred Caldwell. In addition to his immediate family, Ken will be deeply missed by a large circle of cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews who filled his life with laughter, and lasting memories.
Ken spent his career at the Elko Sawmill, where he worked from 1983 to 2025 as an equipment operator. Beyond his professional life, Ken spent the summers with friends and family on the Koocanusa, fishing for Kokanee, searching for firewood, and riding his ATV’s and dirt bikes. He will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laugh, and sense of humour.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Elk Valley Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
Ken will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
