Kenneth Robert Holm passed away surrounded by the love of his wife and daughters at his side on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Ken was born on November 12, 1945, in Cranbrook, BC.
Ken is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Karen; his daughters Leah Holm and Jody (Chris) Boreen, and Lance (Cara) Gravelle who was like a son to him; grandchildren James, Jenna (Les), Jayden (Nick), Emma, Nicholas (Britney) and Matthew; great grandchildren Isabella, Kyleigh, and Quinton, and siblings Wayne, Carl, Candace, and Harold. He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Dorothea, siblings Cheryl, Bonnie, Barry, Earl, George, and Terry (Sam). Ken has left behind many extended family and friends who will cherish memories and miss him dearly. He also leaves behind his sidekick Sadie dog; he loved her and loved to share his dinner with her.
Ken and Karen met in 1964 in Fernie at a “Stomp” and married in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on September 10, 1966. Their first home was a small, rented cabin in Grey Creek, BC. They moved to Elko and also spent time in Fernie before they decided to settle in Elko and the Galloway strip. A few years were spent in Quesnel, BC before returning to Elko for the last time, where Karen continues to reside.
Dad, Papa, Pops spent most of his career in the logging industry. He retired after driving logging truck for many years. He was a rugged, strong, hardworking “Jack-of-all-Trades” with a wealth of knowledge. Ken had a great sense of humour and always loved getting a rise out of anyone; a trait he kept until the very end.
One of the places that held special memories was Waldo, BC, where he grew up on the farm. He often shared stories and memories of adventures with his lifelong childhood friends.
We would like to send our sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Elk Valley Hospital who provided excellent care and attention to Ken throughout the last 2 years.
