Kathleen "Kathy" GREY

Kathleen (Kathy) Dorothy Anne Grey (nee Boake) passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 8th, 2022, in Fernie, BC from a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 4, 1961, in Calgary AB. 

Kathy is survived by her children Adam Grey (Mitchelle Torres) and Jennifer (Jonathan) Cawsey; three precious grandchildren: Jackson, Hannah, and Olivia Cawsey; siblings Robert (Julie) Boake, Raymond Mackenzie (Sandra Eagle Child), Roland (Marianne) Mackenzie, and David (Norma) Mackenzie; half-brother Roy Jr. Mackenzie; half-sisters Marlene Mackenzie and Sheila Jamison, and sister-in-law Carol Boake as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Kingsley and Viola Boake, her brother George, and her sister Margaret Mackenzie.

Kathy was raised in the Crowsnest Pass, coming to Fernie in her teenage years to live with her brother George. In 1979 she graduated from Fernie Secondary School and married at an early age. Kathy’s joy in life was being a mother. She was a very involved mother, able to work for the family business and stay home to raise her children. Kathy enjoyed participating in her young children’s activities including Brownies, Block X, and other school programs. As a family there were many camping trips to Fairmont Hot Springs, Surveyor's Lake, and Baynes Lake. Kathy loved back road drives and hot dog roasts.

Kathy was incredibly talented and loved making Christmas crafts, etching windows, and knitting sweaters which she sold at local craft sales. She had a love for soft vanilla ice-cream cones, ribs, and A&W burgers. Kathy had a major love for animals, mingling with friends and music.

Rest in Peace, Kathy. Until we meet again.
