June Cavell ELIASON

Sadly, June has become our newest angel in heaven. Mom passed away May 2, 2022 after battling Covid in Fernie, BC at the age of 83 years. She was born in England on June 23, 1938.

Mom was predeceased by her first husband Kenneth Mairs, and her second husband Wayne Eliason, her son Billy and her youngest son George. She is survived by her children: Lynda, Lorne (Christine), Margaret (Dave), Stephen (Kim) and Pam (Randy); 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and 5 siblings: Sheila (Glen), Eddie (Sharon), Debbie (Gord), David, and Susan (Connie) as well as many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

At the age of 12 she travelled on the ship Scythia to Canada with her mom Emmie, her sister Sheila and her brother Eddie to start a new life after Emmie’s husband, Edgar Bulpitt, passed away at the age of 34. They travelled across Canada to eventually make roots in Surrey, BC. She attended grade school at David Brankin Elementary and then on to Queen Elizabeth High where she met Kenneth. They wed in August 1956. Soon afterwards they had 7 children who dad wanted to name after racehorses. Obviously, mom won that battle, thank goodness!

Mom battled cancer three times. She always met it head-on with positivity and a smile. She refused to let it bring her down and swore that was the way to beat anything in life.

Mom will be laid to rest with dad at a later date.
