John KMIECIK Obituary

On February 01, 2025, John Kenneth Kmiecik passed away peacefully at Foothills hospital in Calgary.

He was born to Kathleen and Allan Kmiecik, January 3, 1962, in Nelson, B.C. Shortly after they moved to Fernie, and this is where John called home for the rest of his life.

His passion was moving dirt. His profession as a heavy equipment operator took him all over B.C., Alberta, and Alaska. The lure of the homestead always brought him back safely. He contributed to building many roads, bridges and pipelines and was very proud to point out all the things he helped build. At home, he could be found working in his shop, playing with his granddaughter, or getting in trouble for spontaneous good ideas. He was mechanically gifted; if it had a motor, he could make it run.

John was predeceased by his mom, dad, stepfather, and many family members he held dear to his heart. He leaves behind the love of his life, Tracey; his second love and granddaughter, Wesley Bulleid, and his right-hand man, Andrew Huculak. Also left to mourn his loss are Tracey’s children, Sarah (Anton), Gavin (Nicole) who are parents of grandson, Theo, who was just coming to the age to know Papa better; Natasha (Josh); brother, Randy (Val); nephews, Clay, Willy, Robert, Allan; Lonnie Kmiecik; special cousins, Reno and Dwayne Pahl and their families.

Thank you to STARS air ambulance for the care given to John.
