Our esteemed family patriarch, brother John, passed away on January 4th, 2024, at 80 years old age.  John was born September 13, 1943, in Flagstone, BC.

Johnny was a hard-working forestry and equipment operator/owner as well as a passionate outdoorsman who spent his days off hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, and riding his horse in the vast Ktunaxa lands.  He shared his knowledge with those who were lucky enough to be in the right place and time to be included in his adventures.

As a Ktunaxa elder, John spent his latter years working with traditional knowledge and language to ensure our culture and traditions were passed on to the following generations.

John was predeceased by his parents Alex and Annie Gravelle, siblings, Merle, Jim, Bob, and Trena.

John leaves to mourn his companionship, Diane; brothers, Dan (Erin), Pat (Roberta), Larry (Sherry), Ralph (Denise); sisters, Georgina, Joann (Eldon), Evelyn (Lloyd); stepchildren, Eric (Barbera), Jackie (John) and Martin, along with numerous nieces and nephews who he cherished as though they were his own.
