Helen FANTUZ

We’ll miss dearest Helen as she goes to be with Mario in Heaven. 

Helen was born in Fernie to Ludy and Katie Latos on September 23rd, 1925 - a sister for big brother Stanley. She attended the Catholic School, completing her formal education before working at M.C. Cash Grocery. 

Helen met Mario Fantuz and after a sweet courtship they married on September 24, 1945. Soon there were three children: Walter, Margaret, and Linda to complete their family living in the Annex. 

Helen’s role in life became homemaker, Wife, Mother and Mother-in-Law, Grandma and Great Grandma. The kids adored her. The memories are so, so sweet. 

Helen loved to bake (cookies were her favourite), sit quietly on the veranda in the sun, garden, knit and read. 

Helen is remembered by children Walter (Joanna) Fantuz with their children David (Desirae), Brian and Christine, and Margaret (Bob) Singleton (Bob) with children Kelly (Tom) Pierce, Kori Vernier and Kim (Rob) Ordway; her son-in-law Bruce Whitelaw with children Alana (Joseph) Warren, Robert (Rebekah) Whitelaw, and Michael Whitelaw; great grandchildren: Ezra, Kevin, Shaun, Abbi, Makayla, Morocco, Samoa, Caspian, Lucas, Max, Nixon and Maddox, and her sister, Catherine Latos.

Helen was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Mario Fantuz, her daughter Linda Whitelaw, parents Ludy and Katie Latos, her brother Stanley Latos, sister Kathleen Latos, and great grandsons Zeke Fantuz and Cairo Coey. 

May she rest peacefully.
