It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and sister, Kathleen Heather Camilli (nee McLellan) at the age of seventy-seven. Heather died peacefully at home, shortly after waking, on February 21, 2024. She had survived breast cancer and other illnesses and was in the best shape of her life, but her heart just couldn’t continue with her journey.
Heather was born to parents Angus and Vera McLellan on November 10, 1946, in Cranbrook, BC. and grew up in Wycliffe, BC with six siblings. Following the sudden death of her father Angus, Vera married Melvin Johnson and together they had a daughter, Marci.
Heather and James Camilli were married on October 17, 1964; this year would have marked their sixtieth wedding anniversary. She loved her children immensely and was overjoyed when her grandchildren would come to visit. People in Fernie knew Heather because of her walks with her beloved dog, Cane. He was the sweetest dog and Heather loved to stop and chat with people as they would pet him. Heather worked in the hospitality industry and volunteered for various charities, but was mostly a stay-at-home mom while her children were in school. In the summer, she loved camping and fishing at the family cabin in Grasmere, BC.
Heather was a beautiful soul and will be dearly missed by her family, friends, pets, and all who knew her. Her light has gone, but she will not be forgotten.
Left to mourn her passing is the love of her life, James Camilli; children Mel, Michelle (Derek), Nathan (Patricia), and Katrina; grandchildren Kelsey and Kyler; sister Ginger (Gerry); brother Kirby; sister-in-law Dawn; her cat Karma and dog Cane.
Heather was predeceased by siblings Mike, Don (known as Skinny or Butch), Marci, adopted sister Margie; her father Angus; stepfather Melvin, and her mother Vera.
As per her wishes, Heather will be cremated. She did not want a service, or a big fuss made, but the family will have a luncheon to gather and remember her on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Senior’s Centre in Fernie, BC. from 1 PM-5 PM. We would love to see you there.
