Gary Ernest DORTMAN

Gary Ernest Dortman died peacefully after battling with cancer on October 6th, 2023 in Fernie, BC. He was born on March 16, 1949 in Leoville, Sk.

Gary is predeceased by his father Henry, and his mother Christine. He is survived by his son, Christopher Shane (Amber); grandchildren Cali, Christian, and Gabriel; his wife Mavis (Jan); and stepsons Darren Fidler (Sara) and Craig Fidler. Gary will also be missed by his sister, Elaine, and brothers Roger (Deb), Bill (Judy), Clifford (Angele), Norman (Madjella) and Ricky, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gary worked as a heavy-duty equipment operator at the Fording Rivers Operations owned by Teck. He put in 43 1/3 years between Cominco and Fording.

The Dortman family would like to thank Dr. Rohn and the nurses at the Elk Valley Hospital for the wonderful care given to Gary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
