It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frederick Martin Baher on July 3, 2026, at the age of 93. True to his wishes, Fred passed away quietly in his own bed, surrounded by the comfort of home.

Fred was a true character with a quick wit, an infectious laugh, and a gift for making people smile. Even in his later years, despite facing many medical challenges, he continued to enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures—meeting friends for a cup of coffee and sharing stories. He never lost his sense of humor or his appreciation for good company.

Fred spent many years as a guide and outfitter, where his love of the outdoors was more than a profession—it was a way of life. The mountains, forests, and rivers were where he felt most at home, and those who knew him will always remember his deep respect for nature and his adventurous spirit. It brings comfort to think that he is now walking free once again in the places he loved most.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Colleen Baher, his daughter Shawna (Sue), his sons Darren (Carrie) and Greg (Shelly). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Holly, and Christie, and his much-loved extended grandchildren, Tamara and Kelsey. All were fortunate to spend meaningful time with him during his final months, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

If you knew Fred, you knew he never turned down a plate of chicken wings with a tasty Cesar cocktail shared with family and friends. Those simple moments brought him great happiness and perfectly reflected the kind of man he was—down-to-earth, genuine, and happiest surrounded by the people he loved.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered care, friendship, and support throughout Fred’s final journey.

A celebration of Fred’s life is being planned and will likely be held closer to what would have been his birthday this fall. Details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.

Though he is gone from our sight, his stories, laughter, and love of the outdoors will remain with us always.
