Douglas FINNEY

Douglas Finney died peacefully on November 20, 2021 in Fernie, BC.  He was born on December 2, 1931 in Toronto, ON, and lived in Edinburgh, Scotland from 1933 to 1955.

Douglas was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen in 2004.  He is survived by his daughter Linda Krawczyk, son-in-law Louis, grandsons Paul and Michael, granddaughters-in-law Amy and Jacqueline, and great grandchildren William, Emily, and Benjamin.  Doug will be missed by many friends in Ottawa and new friends and caregivers in Fernie.

Douglas and Kathleen were married in Hartlepool, England in 1955.  They moved to Canada in 1957 where Douglas became a telephony technician.  With Douglas’ career, they lived throughout southern Ontario but settled in Ottawa in 1978. Douglas and Kathleen were doting grandparents and enjoyed every opportunity to have grandchildren sleepovers.  Douglas moved to Calgary in 2018 to be closer to family and then to Fernie BC to be near his daughter.  Douglas enjoyed outings in his wheelchair and on the Cycling Without Age Trishaws.  Those walks and bike rides are precious memories for his daughter. 

The Krawczyk family would like to thank Dr. Wilson and the wonderful staff of Rocky Mountain Village for the love, care and compassion given to Douglas and the beautiful memories the caregivers shared with the family.  The family would also like to thank Elk Valley Hospice for their support and love.
