David "Dave" ARMSTRONG Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my loving husband, David (Dave) Alexander Armstrong on June 7, 2026, at the Elk Valley Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dave was born March 19, 1954, in Wawota, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen, and Gordon Armstrong; in-laws, Theresa, and Bud Viers; sister, Diane; brother, Rick and cherished grandson, Coal Armstrong.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Val; sons, Geoffrey (Robyn) and Jaret; sister, Shirley (Don) Billay; brother-in-law, Elvin (Kim) Viers, and six grandchildren.

He will be constantly missed by his four-legged little buddy, Navada, and numerous relatives and friends.

Dave came from Saskatchewan to Fernie in 1973 where he soon met the love of his life, Val. They were married in Revelstoke in 1975 and spent their entire married life in the Fernie area.

Dave spent forty-two years locally working in the mining industry until he finally retired in 2020. He took great pride in his home and his yard, babying his trees, constantly tinkering with something in the garage, or doing carpentry. He always looked forward to his trips with Val to the Dominican Republic where he would pursue his passions of scuba diving and horseback riding.

The immediate family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date.

Dave’s family wish to thank all of the nurses at the Elk Valley Hospital and especially Dr. Shayne Soetaert, for their compassion and care of Dave during his final week. Also, a special thanks to the thoughtful friends for gifts of food, and moral support.
