Danna Lorraine BURGESS

Danna Burgess passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the Elk Valley Hospital after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Fernie on August 15, 1963 to parents Daniel and Lorraine Bendicson.

Danna is survived by her husband of 38 years, Andy Burgess; her children, Sarah (Mat) Riel and Ally Burgess, and her precious granddaughter Sophi. She will also be missed by her many other relatives and friends, who she loved deeply.

Danna and Andy married in Fernie on August 18, 1984. She worked for Service BC for 38 years, starting at the Ministry of Children and Family at age 17. Danna enjoyed serving her community and was always willing to go the extra mile to help when she could. She was an active member of the Knox United Church and loved spending her holidays out at Lake Koocanusa soaking up the sun, as well as hunting and fishing with Andy. Danna’s greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends, but she especially loved being “Nanna Danna”.
