Coleen (nee Sloan) Gay Pelletier passed away with her family surrounding her with love at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on June 4, 2024 after a long six-month battle with declining health.
Coleen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marcel, her daughter Yvonne (Wayne) Sevinski, grandchildren Landen and Jocelyn, brother Garth (Jane) Sloan, sister Sheryl (Max) Sloan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Andre, sister and brother-in-law Rogena & George Lanctot, and her parents Georgia and Roger Sloan.
Coleen was born July 12, 1948 in Rimbey, AB, a town named after her great grandfather Benjamin Thomas Rimbey. She went to school in Edmonton where she graduated as an LPN. Coleen moved to Terrace where she met Marcel, and they were married on November 8, 1969. In the Spring of 1971, they moved to Fernie, BC and purchased a home in the Annex where Coleen worked as an LPN at the hospital until both of her children were born.
Coleen enjoyed life; her family always came first. She was a mother to many as she and Marcel became foster parents to a lot of children throughout the years. Coleen loved baking, cooking, canning, gardening, camping, playing bridge and cards, and was extremely passionate about her role in the Fernie Society for Community Living and the Fernie Family Housing Society. Her family and friends will miss her and all the delicious things she made.
Coleen and Marcel had just moved to Cranbrook in the Summer of 2023 to live their senior years with Yvonne and her family.
The Pelletier family would like to thank Dr. Todd Loewen and all the caring staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
