Carole MEEHAN

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carole Meehan on April 28, 2025. 

Carole was born in Toronto on March 2, 1957, one of six daughters, to Chester and Iris McIsaac. 

Even at an early age, Carole was fiercely independent, leaving home at the age of fifteen to face life’s challenges. Carole had many talents, she was an exceptional seamstress, gardener, cook, and a competitive golfer (even getting a hole-in-one), but her superpower was her ability to entertain and bring people together. She laughed often about how her partner Ed would surprise her by bringing ten or more people home after a day on the hill, for her to feed. Throughout Covid, she hosted her famous “Happy Hour” from her balcony while her friends gathered on the patio below. This continued after Covid with a dozen gathering in her living room sharing stories and her wonderful hospitality.

Carole is survived by her partner of nearly forty years, Ed Bain, who she adored and shared many adventures. Also surviving Carole is her sister, Roberta McIsaac; nieces and nephews: Tom, Jim, Lynn, Shawn, Jesse, Lindsey, Brandon, Austin, Bre-ann, and Brett; many great nieces and nephews; granddaughter Jill and great grandson, Noah. 

Carole was predeceased by her sisters: Donna, Patricia, Michele, and Jacqueline. 

Loyalty and honesty were traits that Carole held dear, she was a wonderful friend to many, with a quick smile, a great laugh, and a zest for life. 

Carole bravely fought cancer, stealing an extra eighteen months from it. We will miss her as she leaves to face her next adventure.

The family would like to thank all of those that cared for Carole on her journey; Dr. Forrest, the amazing nurses at the Elk Valley Hospital who made her feel special, her niece, Lindsey David, and Stephanie Rogers for her care and attention in Carole’s final hours, and for leaving the window open…

Carole will be greatly missed by her family, friends and anyone who was lucky enough to know her. 

A gathering will be held to remember Carole at the Fernie Legion (551 1st Ave.) on Sunday, May 18th at 2:30. All her friends are invited to attend to share memories of her life.

No flowers please, instead, plant a flower in your garden or share a meal with a friend. It is how Carole would have done it.
