It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Antonio Silvio Porco (Tony) passed peacefully at the Elk Valley Hospital on May 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Tony fought a long hard battle against kidney disease and other medical issues.
Tony was born a true Elk Valley boy, March 10, 1960, in Natal, BC. He was the youngest child of Assunta and Pietro Porco. Tony was predeceased by his parents, brothers John, Silvio, and Tilio and sister Maria.
Tony was a dedicated family man. He married his high school sweetheart, Lynn, in 1981 and they resided in Sparwood, BC with their two children. Tony was employed at Greenhills and later at Elkview mine as a journeyman welder. He loved the outdoors and the new adventures it would always bring. Tony loved fishing, hunting, and camping with his family and friends. He was a man of many talents, and his greatest enjoyment came from being surrounded by his family and friends.
Tony is survived by his loving wife Lynn; children Cody (Pat), Joey (Kari); grandchildren Anika, Emmery, Isley, and Eli; sister Alba and a host of extended family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Tony’s family would like to thank Dr. Radar, his wonderful dialysis nurses and team, the Sparwood Volunteer Fire Department, paramedics, and the nurses and doctors who cared for him at the end of his life. To you all, we are eternally grateful.
