Rosa DELLA SIEGA

Rosa was born on January 15th, 1929 in the town of San Martino di Codroipo in Italy. She was one of four children and the only daughter of Rosario and Santina Della Mora. 

She grew up in a farming community, in a multi-family home of 35.  Rosa studied to become a seamstress while working in a tobacco factory.  She later immigrated to Canada, making the journey alone, she arrived in Fernie on December 28th, 1954.  She married Elio Della Siega on January 8, 1955.  Rosa quickly made friends with other members of the Italian community who helped her tremendously.  Later, she reciprocated by helping them in their older years.  She was a very talented seamstress and many people in the community benefited from her skills.  Rosa was a caring homemaker and mother who enjoyed raising her two sons, and later helping with her grandchildren.

Rosa will be deeply missed by two sons: Dennis, his wife Diane, their children Danielle (Ryan) and Lucas (Kayleigh) and Eugene, his wife Sheila, and their children Leigh, Stefan and Joel.  She also leaves to mourn her great grandchildren Brandon, Audrey and Coden.  Rosa was predeceased by her brother Tony (Alverina) and is survived by brothers Rino (Nives) and Tarcisio (Fernanda) and their families in Toronto.  She has many nieces and nephews in Italy who will also miss her.  Rosa leaves many friends, especially Ilha Strachan who enriched her life greatly.
