- About Us
Clayton Wayne Smith was born on November 19, 1980 in Kamloops, BC and went to Jesus on February 21, 2019 at the age of 38.
He attended school in Fernie at Isabella Dicken Elementary and then Fernie Secondary School, where he met many of his lifelong friends. After graduation, Clayton attended the College of the Rockies for his heavy duty mechanic apprenticeship, where he was awarded as the Snap-On Tools Top Student in his class.
This success carried into his career, where Clayton was known as an accomplished and well-respected heavy duty mechanic in the Valley. During his career, he worked for the Nohels Group, Wajax Sparwood, and most recently SMS Elkford.
Clayton enjoyed the outdoors. Whether he was quadding, skiing, biking or exploring in his Jeep, Clayton spent time with family and friends exploring our beautiful region. He was an avid traveler, visiting Dubai, Africa, Poland, Hawaii, and Mexico on his adventures.
Clayton will be remembered for his quiet, caring nature and ability to know when he was needed. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
Clayton is lovingly survived by parents Wayne Smith and Theresa Cole-Smith; sister Nicole, brother-in-law and friend Chris and his beloved nephew and niece, Tanner and Aubrey Aasen; grandmother Grace Cole; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Clayton was predeceased by grandparents William Cole, Nicholas Smith and Gwendolyn Smith; uncle Bill Cole, aunts Ruth Closs and Diana Vicic, and cousins Joannie and Lexine.
