Keith Edwin DIES

Keith Edwin Dies passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-five on February 27th, 2024, in Fernie, BC. He was born on January 26th, 1929, in Lampman, SK. He spent most of his life in Kindersley, SK and spent his final years in Fernie to be close to his family.

Keith is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Eileen; son Melvin and daughter-in-law Janette; two grandchildren Jenna and Matthew; sisters Lois and Lorraine and brother Ron.

Keith moved to Kindersley in 1941 and excelled on the Kindersley Klippers hockey team in his teenage years. Keith and Eileen married in Kindersley in 1964. Keith went to school for watchmaking and ran a jewelry store called Vera’s. He served as a faithful volunteer firefighter in Kindersley for forty-one years, eventually receiving the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General on July 28th, 1986. He spent many years coaching Special Olympics Bowling; it held a special place in his heart. He was also involved in the Kindersley Free Methodist Church.

In his spare time, Keith loved fixing clocks, hunting, curling, and skiing. He spent summers with his family at the lake, and enjoyed watersports, such as waterskiing, until he was eighty years old. Keith always supported his son Mel in everything he did, including never missing any of his sporting events. He loved playing games, like aggravation, with his grandchildren and was always present in caring for them growing up.
