Glenn WALLMAN Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn Richard Wallman on March 19, 2024, in Fernie at the age of 69.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Tania Schleppe Wallman; daughter Jessica (Jeremy Wheeler) and their children Myra and Emmett; son Greg; daughter Theresa Schleppe; daughter-in-law Breanna Southgate-Schleppe and her children Morgan and Ember. He is also survived by cousins Lynda, Joan, Marilyn, and the family pupper, Macey. He was predeceased by his parents and son Michael Schleppe.

He was born on June 9, 1954, to Ernest (Jack) and Katherine (née MacKenzie) in Nottingham, England while his father was stationed there in the R.C.A.F. A self-proclaimed air force brat, Glenn moved around the world with his family before they settled back in the lower mainland.

Glenn moved to Nelson, BC in the seventies and began working for CPR railway. That began a lifelong passion for all things trains including model railroading. In 1980 he moved to the Elk Valley where he began working at Fording River. In 1981, his daughter Jessica was born and in 1984, his son Greg joined the family.

Over the years, Glenn worked for almost all the mines in a multitude of positions, but he enjoyed safety and mine rescue the most. Glenn would help organize and plan out scenarios for a number of competitions to the chagrin of his children that were often volunteered to be patients. He also volunteered with the Hosmer Fire Department for 35 years and was passionate about the service and members.

Glenn also really enjoyed teaching first aid and began doing that full-time in the 2000’s. It was during this time that he met Tania, and they married in 2006. Together, they enjoyed camping, travelling, and impromptu dance parties. They both loved each other dearly and took turns caring for one another during the ups and downs of life and health.

Glenn loved fishing, watching Cubs games, reading, railroading, camping, taking long drives to nowhere, playing music with his friends, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He will be deeply missed.
